The Manipulation of 17:46

One word - "alone" - quietly moved from the Quran to the Lord, to hide the verse that names the hadith religion's allergy.

I. The Verse

"We place shields around their minds, to prevent them from understanding it, and deafness in their ears. And when you preach your Lord, using the Quran alone, they run away in aversion." (17:46)

The header over the verse reads "Quran: The ONLY Source." In the Arabic, the word wahdahu - "alone" - stands immediately after "the Quran": preach your Lord bil-Quran wahdahu, with the Quran alone. Traditional renderings quietly relocate the word: "when you mention your Lord alone in the Quran..." - shifting "alone" from the Book to the Lord, and thereby deleting the Quran-alone doctrine from the verse that states it. Word order is meaning; God placed "alone" where He placed it. And the verse's own subject agrees: it opens with the Quran - shields placed around their minds "to prevent them from understanding it" - and closes with the Quran; "the Quran alone" is the continuation of the sentence's one topic, not an intrusion into it.

II. Six Occurrences, One Pattern

The word wahdahu occurs in the Quran exactly six times: 7:70, 17:46, 39:45, 40:12, 40:84, and 60:4. In five of the six, it attaches to God - "worship GOD alone" (7:70), "when GOD ALONE is mentioned" (39:45), "when GOD ALONE was advocated" (40:12), "now we believe in GOD ALONE" (40:84), "until you believe in GOD ALONE" (60:4). Only in 17:46 does the word stand after "the Quran" instead - a deliberate exception in a deliberate Book. And the composition seals the assignment with its signature. Rashad Khalifa's footnotes on 17:46 and 60:4 present the proof: add the sura and verse numbers of the five "God alone" occurrences - 7+70, 39+45, 40+12, 40+84, 60+4 - and the total is 361, or 19x19. Include 17:46 and the total is no longer a multiple of 19. The code itself files 17:46 under a different heading: not "God alone" - "the Quran alone."

III. The Reading That Cannot Even Be Practiced

Test the manipulated version on its own terms: "when you mention your Lord alone in the Quran." How would anyone do that? The Quran teems with other names - messengers, angels, Pharaoh, peoples, places; reading it at all mentions them. A command impossible to obey is not what God legislated. But preaching your Lord using the Quran alone - no hadith, no scholars' chains, no second source - is not only practicable; it is the practice this entire site exists for, and the verse predicts its reception.

IV. The Verse Comes True On Contact

That prediction is the manipulation's motive. 17:46 states that when the Lord is preached from the Quran alone, a certain audience runs away in aversion - and its sister verse gives the mirror image, under Rashad's header "The Greatest Criterion":

"When GOD ALONE is mentioned, the hearts of those who do not believe in the Hereafter shrink with aversion. But when others are mentioned beside Him, they become satisfied." (39:45)

Anyone can run the experiment. Say "God alone, the Quran alone" in a gathering, and watch for the shrinking; add other names and other books, and watch the satisfaction return. The verse that describes the allergy was itself rearranged by those allergic to it - which may be the most complete confirmation a verse has ever received. The Book said they would turn their backs on "the Quran alone"; they turned their backs so thoroughly they re-translated the phrase out of the verse.
